How to contribute to the CAN ICO

Participating the the CAN ICO is very straight forward; here is the comprehensive how-to guide.

In this blog post we are going to demonstrate how to participate in the CanYa ICO using our preferred wallet; Trust. We will also give guidance on the use of localethereum (to buy ETH) and dedicated wallets like MyEtherWallet and Metamask (to participate in the CAN ICO).

If you are new to CanYa we recommend you read and understand the CanYa Whitepaper. If you have questions or want to talk to the CanYa Team directly, reach out on the CanYaCoin Community Telegram Channel.

Feel free to scroll past the “Purchasing Ether” section to “Creating a Wallet” or “Receiving Address”

Purchasing Ether:

fiat-to-cypto

There are many ways to purchase Ether; some may be easier in your region of the world but we will suggest one that the community loves and works almost everywhere. In this section we are going to run you through how to buy ETH with Localethereum.

Localethereum: https://localethereum.com

Localethereum is a peer-to-peer (P2P) Ether portal where you can swap Ether and fiat directly with other people who reside in the same country – Payments can be done in cash or though online banking.

Signup:

If you haven’t signed up already, head to: https://localethereum.com/signup and enter your details. After sign up you will need to confirm your email address and most importantly back-up your wallet by selecting “Backup your wallet” from the menu in the top right. Make sure to download your wallet backup and store this somewhere safe – preferably somewhere offline!

Buying ETH:

On the main page of localethereum start filtering trades by selecting buy, your payment method and location.

Filter localeth localethereum
Filtering the seller types – localethereum

Select the seller that best suits you. Every seller has different rates so make sure you get one that gives you a good bang for buck, has a good seller rating and matches the amount of Ether you want to buy.

Enter the amount of ETH/fiat you would like to purchase and open the trade.

The next stage is talking with the seller and fulfilling their requirements. Depending on local regulation, you may need to provide some details and show proof of ID.

Once the seller is happy, they will deposit the ETH into the escrow contract. When you see these funds in the escrow contract, you are safe to send the seller your fiat currency. Once you have sent the payment, mark the payment as sent and wait for the seller to release the ETH to your localethereum wallet.

You have now successfully purchased Ether!

NOTE: Please remember that there are HEAPS of exchanges online that are just as easy (sign up, verify your identity, send local currency and buy ETH). Have a look for the best recommended exchanges in your region and if you get really stuck, ask the CanYa Team on the CanYaCoin Community Telegram Channel.

So you have your ETH that you will use to participate in the CAN ICO, time to send it to the ETH wallet that you will use for the ICO.

Trust Wallet

There are many different dedicated wallets that you can use to participate in the CanYaCoin ICO but we recommend Trust above all. In this section, we are going to run through using Trust Ethereum Wallet.

Trust Ethereum Wallet:

IOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/trust-ethereum-wallet/id1288339409?mt=8

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wallet.crypto.trustapp&hl=en

Creating a wallet:

Once you have downloaded the app onto one of your devices you will be able to create a wallet. Make sure you backup this wallet and store it somewhere safe as this gives whoever has it access to your funds.

Once you have completed the first steps you should be on the main page where you can see your balance, view your address and send tokens.

We suggest hitting the settings icon to the top left of the page and setting a passcode before proceeding any further (IOS).

Sending Ether from Localethereum to Trust

To send ETH from a localethereum wallet to a Trust wallet you will need:

  • ETH stored in your localethereum wallet.
  • A dedicated wallet receiving address. (Tap “My address” on the main page)

Participating in the CanYa ICO:

Contribute to the CanYa Live ICO here: https://sale.canya.io

For participating the CanYaCoin ICO you should never use a wallet that is linked to an exchange or any other service that you yourself do not hold the private keys for!

Only use a dedicated, local wallet of which you hold the private keys of the addresses. If you do use a wallet linked to an exchange you risk losing your funds as the returned tokens will be sent to the exchange’s hot wallet, which are often contracts and may not have access to ERC-20 tokens.

NOTE: You can check to see that your transaction was successful by following the link that will be provided below the CanYa contract address.

MyEtherWallet

There are many different dedicated wallets you can use to participate in the CanYaCoin ICO. In this section, we are going to run through using the wallet MyEtherWallet.

MyEtherWallet (MEW):

https://www.myetherwallet.com/

Creating a MEW wallet:

When you first arrive at MEW you will be greeted by the main page where you will want to create a new strong password – one you won’t forget!

After creating the password make sure to download your keystore file. Go ahead, and make sure you save this somewhere safe (on a flash drive hidden away is a good option).

The next page will prompt you to store your private key (be very careful with this as it gives anyone with the key access to your funds). We recommend printing this off and storing it somewhere safe where nobody will find it.

You have now created your dedicated wallet using MEW.

To view your wallet and its contents, open your Keystore/JSON file and enter in the password you created earlier.

You should end up on a screen where you can see your account address, balance and re-download your keystore and paper wallets.

To send ETH from a localethereum wallet to a MEW you will need:

  • ETH stored in your localethereum wallet.
  • A dedicated wallet receiving address which you can find here:

To send Ether to your MyEtherWallet, start by clicking on your account balance in the top right corner of Localethereum.

Metamask

There are many different dedicated wallets you can use to participate in the CanYaCoin ICO. In this section, we are going to run through using the wallet Metamask.

Metamask:

Chrome extension: https://metamask.io/

Creating a Metamask Wallet:

First, head to metamask.io and add the chrome extension:

Metamask ethereum add extension ICO CanYa
Adding Metamask chrome extension

After adding the extension and accepting the terms, you will be required to create a password. As usual, make sure your password is secure and not used for anything else.

Next you will get given a 12 word phrase, make sure you keep this somewhere safe and offline, as this is the backup for your wallet in case you can’t log in using your created password. You have now created a dedicated wallet within your browser using Metamask. From here you can view your balance, copy your account address (for receiving funds) and send Ether.

Sending Ether from Localethereum to Metamask:

To send ETH from a localethereum wallet to Metamask you will need:

  • ETH stored in your exchange wallet.
